CellX is focused on producing cultivated proteins utilising 3D technology.
The startup, based in Shanghai, intends to bring cultivated meat products to consumers in China and around the world. Its goal is to provide a sustainable source of animal protein, better health for all human beings, and improved animal welfare.
Founded in 2020, CellX has built a top R&D team of 30 and raised $15M in total. The team focuses on building core platform technologies with a multi-species approach, and they have now moved into the next phase of development - scaling up and reducing costs.
Cellx initially focused on pork products but has since expanded to include beef and poultry products. In April 2022, Cellx announced a partnership with Bluu Seafood (a Europe-based cultivated fish company) — expanding its reach into the alternative seafood industry.
